European Hair Trends for 2023

You know what they say: new year, new hair!

Ring in 2023 with a fresh hairstyle for a new and better you! But don’t just choose any hairstyle—opt for cutting-edge cuts that are taking fashion-forward Europeans by storm.

Here are the top European hair trends for 2023!

The Wet Look

The wet look was a staple in multiple fashion shows this year. Bella Hadid sported the hairstyle while walking at the Victoria Beckham fashion show. Dozens of models in various fashion shows also had a slick look: Dilara Findikoglu and Molly Goddard in London and Bibhu Mohapatra in New York. Celebrities like Florence Pugh, Zendaya, and Simone Ashley also rocked the sleek aesthetic on red carpets in 2022.

The best thing about the wet look is that it suits all hair lengths and types. “It’s a look that can feel sexy, glamorous and expensive, or equally hard and masculine,” hairstylist Cyndia Harvey told British Vogue about the trend.

Style your hair as soon as you get out of the shower and your hair is still damp. Apply strong-hold gel and comb your hair back. The gel will keep strands in place, while a glossing spray will emphasize the shine.

Braids

There are so many different types of braids: the classic three-strand braid, box braids, cornrows, french braid, fishtail braid, goddess braids, and more. They are timeless and will never go out of style—there will always be a braid that fits the occasion and perfectly matches your personality.

You can also invent your own braided style, like Rihanna’s rebel aesthetic with partial box braids with the back left loose.

Color Pop

If you want a big change, the new year is the perfect occasion to make a drastic change—dye your hair with colors that pop. Don’t just go blonde; choose a striking platinum. Add a tinge of bright blue, hot pink, or glittering purple to your hair. And if you can’t choose one color, go full rainbow!

Other amazing color pops for 2023 are pastel rose gold, subtle ombre, radiant red, Barbiecore pink, illuminated brunette, and Targaryen blonde, which is obviously named after the Game of Thrones and House of the Dragons’ famous family.

Bixie

Bixie—the spawn of the bob and the pixie cut. It’s perfect for those who don’t feel like spending a lot of time drying their hair but still want style and edge.
Some of the most famous celebrities enjoy this almost wash-and-wear haircut, such as Kristen Stewart, Sarah Hyland, and Ciara. There are dozens of bixie options, so get in touch with your hairstylist to find the best one that suits your face shape and personality.

Hairstylists have a complex job of catering to people’s favored haircuts and styles while ensuring they suit the person’s face shape. With these European trends expected to be big in 2023, you will surely have fantastic input in the hair conversation.
